Pathway to Freedom by Alistair Begg - A Review

What is the purpose of the 10 Commandments in a Christian's Life?  That is the question that Alistair Begg takes on in his book Pathway to Freedom. 

This book has a chapter for each of the ten commandments given to Moses by God so long ago on Mount Sinai.  It also looks at the different ways the ten commandments can bring us closer to God, closer to Jesus, and closer to each other.

This book is a wonderful.  It starts to drag in a few places, but overall it was a great read.  The content of the book far outweighs the few parts that are a little less page-turning.

This book is very convicting.  It shows you the subtle ways you are breaking the ten commandments in ways you never thought about.  One evening, after reading this book, I went to Safeway and proceeded to make the staff there think I was insane.  Right now Safeway is running a Monopoly promotion, and they gave me a few extra pieces at the checkout.  Previously, I would have thought "Sweet!  Free pieces!", but after reading Pathway to Freedom, I couldn't keep them.  I went back in the store, went to customer service, and told them I got to many pieces, and I wouldn't be able to live with the guilt if I won!

God Made You Just Right by Jill Roman Lord - A Review

Most of the books I review are for adults, but I got a chance to review God Made You Just Right, which is a board book.  From the back of the book: You're brilliantly created, and there's no one else like you!  With simple, rhyming text and whimsical illustrations, this book is a welcome reminder for little ones that God created each of us in just the right way. I love the artwork, it is colorful and engaging, which should catch the attention of small children, but still nice to look at for adults.  The text is encouraging and has a good rhyme pattern, which I always appreciate in books for small children.  It isn't a story, but poetry telling children that God knew exactly what He was doing when He created each part of each person.  I love that it talks about the things you uniquely need to be able to fulfill God's plan for you.
