What's In the Mother Goose Time Box? Part Four

Three bags down, 21 left to go.  No I am not kidding.  There are 24 packages to open in your first Mother Goose Time kit.  Its like Christmas morning, but a little more work because there are a TON of things to cut out.  A lot of them are punch out, but a lot of them require cutting.  But I am not going to go over every single bag so this will not take forever.

Santa's Workshop Celebration Kit
Let us start with the Celebration Kit.  I don't know if each month has a Celebration Kit or not, but because it is Christmas they sent me a Santa's Workshop Celebration Kit.  It is obviously intended more for a classroom setting, and comes with an invitation (which looks pretty sad since I only get a kit for one child LOL) and guest sign in sheet.  Maybe we will invite Grandma, and the girls will be on Christmas Break when we do this, so they can participate.  Anyways, it comes with supplies for one craft, a snack, two games, special Circle Time activities, and some ideas for your Investigation Stations, which we will probably use.  It also has the pieces necessary for the games and art project.

Week One (well days 2-5, because we already did day 1) plus the book
from day 5
Most of the bags are the daily bags.  Every day has its own bag for each child.  This makes it quick and easy to grab what you need and stay organized.  Each daily bag has a theme poster to hang up on your Circle Time display, craft pieces and instructions (they do a craft almost every day!), and the materials you need to play the games and do the activities for the week.

Week 2
For example the first day has a family newsletter for preschools, instructions for a drum prop (the instructions are on little slips of paper that would make it really easy to save them for future use), rhythm pattern cards, supplies for the drum prop, and name tags (each month I think the children make new name tags, which is a really good, simple way to keep track of handwriting improvements).

Week 3
They include other things some days, like on day three the children get a journal.  On day five you get a full length story book related to the theme.  Day 14 comes with an I Can Read book.


Week 4
The amazing thing is that between the manipulatives, the games and supplies included and the books, you are building up an incredible library of learning activities that your family can use for years.  The only problem I am going to have, is where I can store all of this stuff so its safe AND accessible.

God Made You Just Right by Jill Roman Lord - A Review

Most of the books I review are for adults, but I got a chance to review God Made You Just Right, which is a board book.  From the back of the book: You're brilliantly created, and there's no one else like you!  With simple, rhyming text and whimsical illustrations, this book is a welcome reminder for little ones that God created each of us in just the right way. I love the artwork, it is colorful and engaging, which should catch the attention of small children, but still nice to look at for adults.  The text is encouraging and has a good rhyme pattern, which I always appreciate in books for small children.  It isn't a story, but poetry telling children that God knew exactly what He was doing when He created each part of each person.  I love that it talks about the things you uniquely need to be able to fulfill God's plan for you.
