When I saw Buttons Diapers, I REALLY wanted to try them.  They were totally different than anything else in my diaper stash, and they looked awesome! Alas, my bank account was near empty and I only had $22 in my PayPal account.  That was more than enough for a cover and inserts, but not for shipping.  So I contacted Amy at Buttons Diapers and offered to do a review in exchange for a discount so I could try them out.  She did way better, and offered to send me a cover, daytime insert, and nighttime doubler, free of charge, to review!  As if that wasn't generous enough, she also offered to host a giveaway for my readers!  So one of you lucky ladies gets to try Buttons Diapers too. Buttons Diapers are AI2 diapers (I believe, I am not a diaper expert, but there are two pieces, and no pocket, so I think all in two is an accurate description...).  They consist of a PUL cover and snap-in inserts.  They are one size diapers, fitting babies from 9-35 ...

I got a cloth diaper to review from Betsy's Baby Boutique.  I JUST started using cloth diapers, so I am by no means a pro at using (or reviewing) them.  I was given a product to try out free of charge, but despite that, all thoughts are my own :) This diaper is so pretty, it is to bad that you have to use a cover with it!  Maybe I can find a see through one (I don't think that actually exists) ...  I tried it out a couple days ago, and sadly it did leak, but I attribute that more to Miss Baby being a very heavy wetter (she can down an 8 ounce cup of water in about 2 minutes!) and my cover being very, very old, than a failure of the diaper.  I tried it a second time with a much better (although equally old...) cover and had no leaking at all!  The diaper is really soft, and very trim.  She uses a special material called Zorb, so it can be more absorbant, while being thinner. On Wednesday one of my best friends had a little girl.  Her name is Gabriella and she is adorable.  9 lbs. 14 ozs, vaginal delivery with no drugs of any sort (other some Vicadin after she was born : P  )  This is pretty awesome, since some people think that big babies require c-sections, and I would say almost 10 pounds is a pretty good sized baby.  YAY Melissa! Yesterday my baby sister (Noelle-who is 15 and not really a baby at all), my friend (Brittany) and I went to meet the new baby.  We took the little girl I baby-sit (Hadlee-who is 13 months) with us.  Now Noelle is the baby of the family and as such has not really had much experience with diapers.  But she changed all of the diapers while she stayed with me as I thought that she could use the practice.  She had gotten the baby up from her nap and changed her poopy diaper without any help from me at all.  I was there, and offered to help but she wanted to do it herself. ...

So in the last few days I have read two potty training books (Yeah, its kinda weird, but think about what a prepared mommy I will be, plus I baby-sit so its good to know anyways) which have taught me SOOOO much more about the importance of cloth diapers, as well as the importance of early potty training! I'll just focus on diapers, but I will probably end up spouting off about the wonderful world of infant potty training/elimination communication/natural infant hygeine. People in the USA used to start potty training really early. Like two or three months old. This was back when there were no disposable diapers, and no automatic washing machines. When washing machines got to be more popular, good old Dr. Spock suggested waiting longer to potty train, like 9 months old or so. In 1957 half of all babies started potty training by 9 months old. Then Pampers came out. In 1961 Dr. Brazelton (who's name is really familiar to me for some reason) signed up to sing Pampers praises....

A post about diapers could go in many directions. -It could revert back to my last post about a leaky diaper that resulted in me wearing a blanket. -It could also be about crazy astronaut stalkers who wear diapers to avoid the annoying road trip hassle of having to go to the bathroom. -I could be super mean and make jokes at the expense of the poor souls who have to wear Depends and other such incontinence products.
