Tuesday Fail!

So I have been trying to post a "Ta-Da" every Tuesday, because I apparently adore alliteration. Sadly, this week I didn't make anything.  I should have been sewing, but I was pretty busy last week, and didn't really get a chance to sew, and my dinners have mainly consisted of barbecues at my friends' houses. I do have a couple of good posts coming up soon, and I promise I will make something awesome for next week.  I am just tired and lazy tonight, so this will have to do... :) This post may be linked up at one of these wonderful blog hops:

Vintage Hair-Dos - For Teens Only March 1968

Today we will learn how to turn 2 hair-dos into 10!  Unlike the last couple of posts with pictures and such from For Teens Only (March 1968) these are actually really cute, not ridiculous or illegal by today's advertising standards (x-ray specs anyone?).  Enjoy! *Don't forget to click on the pictures so you can read the full captions. Meet Sally.   She has honey-blonde shoulder length hair.  It's a pretty do for a pretty girl.  I love variation 3!  My hair is a little to long for it though.  Meet Carol. Her hair is apparently "very, very long" (mine is about 6 inches longer than hers so it doesn't seem that long to me...) and the style takes advantage of the "lushness of it".  Carol, unlike Sally does not get called a pretty girl.  Poor Carol. The Purpose Of LIfe

Many people seem to struggle with finding the meaning of their life, or how they are supposed to find fulfillment.  Just go to a bookstore (assuming you can find one, what with e-books killing the real thing) and see how big the "self-help" section is.   The fact is that the purpose of life is simple.  We are beings that were created to worship and glorify God.  There are several verses in the Bible that tell us that. So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.           Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 ESV  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So ...

My First Day Of School - Throwback Thursday #5

To take a look at my other Throwback Thursday posts click here . This weeks picture is from my first day of Kindergarten.  That would have been September 1992.  I was SO excited to start school, and quite disappointed that Kindergarten was mostly playing and coloring.  I could already read, and wanted to do classwork. Anyway, on my first day of Kindergarten I rode the bus.  Actually that really surprises me.  Knowing my mom, I would have thought she would take me for the first day.  The bus picked me up directly across the street from my house.  After school I got on my bus and the bus driver told everyone to sit quietly.  I was pretty much the only kid that listened.  As it turned out, my after school bus stop was a couple houses down from where I lived.  I didn't realize that, so I stayed on the bus.  My mom was waiting for me with my little sister, who was about 18 months old at the time.  When I didn't get off she ma...

Keeping It Classy

I like to think I am classy.  But then I think of the long list of unclassy things I do, and realize its just wishful thinking. Classy ladies do not (but I do): Go outside in their pajamas (to let the dog out or turn on/off sprinklers) while holding their arm across their boobs so no one can see they are not wearing a bra.  They probably don't go outside in their pajamas at all. Let their yard get over ran with weeds.  Seriously, I work on the garden area, but all the stupid flower beds are COVERED in weeds, and they come back like crazy.  I hate to admit it, but Michael and I are going to be using poison spray for everywhere except our food garden.  Its just overwhelming!   Let their grass get almost a foot tall (or at least the weeds).  We don't have a mower (Michael is working on rebuilding an old one his friend gave him.  We also don't have a truck, so we have to wait until our generous friend is able to bring his over for us to borrow....

Quick and Easy Moroccan Chicken

Last week I tried a new recipe.  Actually that isn't really true, I kind of half-way created my own recipe.  This is based on a recipe from Cooking Light, but I changed it around.  The recipe was for a rub, but since I HATE touching raw meat, I don't really do rubs (every once in a while I will suck it up and make a meatloaf though), plus my chicken was still frozen, and you can't really rub anything onto frozen chicken. RECIPE: 1 tsp paprika 1/2 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp ginger 1/4 tsp pepper 1/2 cup water 2 tbsp vinegar 2 tbsp oil however much chicken you want to eat, this is a marinade/sauce, so it doesn't really have to be precise Pre-heat the oven to 350 ° (or whatever temperature you like to cook chicken at).  Mix all the ingredients except the chicken in a bowl.  Put the chicken in whatever baking dish you are using, and then pour the mixture over the chicken.  You can then leave it to mar...

Mint and Arrows Retro Wrap Headband Review

I was given free product to review.  The fact that I was given free product does NOT influence my review, all opinions are my own! Mint and Arrows makes a variety of items, including car seat covers, wet bags, and Boppy pillow covers. I was sent two Wrap Headbands in a pink chevron print to review.  One for me, and one for Hadlee.  Which is great because Hadlee is a much cuter model than me (even with a pixelated face to protect her privacy!)  I wanted some pictures of us together, but I forgot to ask Michael to take them so I only have separate ones. First off, let me say that they were packaged very well.  Neatly folded in a zipper bag, in a new shipping envelope.  Way classier than anything I have ever mailed out. I love the vintage look to them.  It is a little "Rosie the Riveter" like.  It could even be "pin-up-ish".  I even experimented with a hippie look (not sure I recommend that one...). Not only are th...
