Today I Am Thankful For Underwear (and Socks and Bras)

Okay, whenever my family would go around the table and say what they were thankful for, I would always say socks or underwear.  It kept me from having to get all sappy, plus they are really great.

Reasons that undergarments are wonderful:

1. Less laundry.  You would have to wash your pants everytime you wore them if it were not for underwear.  Or at least I hope you would wash them everytime.  Washing your pants less makes them last longer, so underwear actually save you money (well unless you buy $20 underwear or something, but thats your own bad since you can buy them for about $1.25 at Wal-Mart)
2. Jeans.  Think about it: jeans would hardly exist without underwear.  No one in their right mind would ever want to wear them if underwear were not around.
3. Aestheically pleasing.  Lots of underwear are pretty adorable, especially if you go with the cheap ones at Wal-Mart.  Cartoon charactors, seasonal designs, they are pretty awesome.
4. Boobs that don't hit your knees at 25.  I am not 25 yet, but I am pretty sure that my boobs will still be pretty much where they are now a year from now.  Because I wear a bra.  If you don't wear a bra, your poor boobs will get all stretched out and nasty before you even have kids.
5. Not embarassing other people.  You know how it is when you have to carry on a conversation with someone not wearing a bra.  Trying to avert your eyes without them noticing and still maintaining some amount of eye contact.
6. Not having to wear a corset and pantaloons.  I am all about girls dressing like girls, and would LOVE some old fashioned clothes.  But I am sticking with my modern undergarments.  I do NOT want to wear a corset.  Well part of me does so I can look like I am super skinny, but I'm pretty lazy and like being comfortable.
7. Less stinky shoes.  When you wear shoes (of the non-sandal sort) without socks your feet sweat like crazy.  Socks absorb the sweat so you just throw the gross part in the wash and the expensive shoes remain relatively non-disgusting.

This post was really weird, but seeing as how that is almost always what I said around the table at Thanksgiving, I thought it needed to be said here.

  1. I agree 100%. I almost wrote about being thankful for socks but I couldn't think of anything other than "they can be cute and keep my feet warm" to say.

    Underwear really is amazing. Amen.

Breastfeeding An Adopted Child - The Tenth Day of Christmas

Today we are hearing from Teglene.  Her story is pretty long, but trust me, it is totally worth reading through!  She also has a great blog, called The Breastfeeding Mother . I always knew I wanted to breastfeed my children. I couldn ’t imagine doing it any differently. I was lucky enough to give birth to two beautiful boys and I enjoyed breastfeeding them both. Not that it was easy or without struggle, but it was what I wanted to do and loved doing it. In fact, I liked it so much, and felt so passionate about breastfeeding that I became a La Leche League Leader, so that I could help other breastfeeding moms. I really took to the idea of “Mothering through breastfeeding”. It wasn ’t just a feeding method for me, but a relationship with my child. My husband and I always talked about adopting a child who needed a family. We thought, if we can’t have kids of our own then we will adopt. Even if we can have kids of our own, maybe we will still adopt. After the birt...

Manipulatives Monday GIVEAWAY from Mother Goose Time - closed

Giveaway closed! Thank you so much to everyone who entered, I really appreciate it! I have excellent news!  Today is Manipulatives Monday, and Mother Goose Time  is giving away a great prize!  One lucky winner will receive TWO bags of manipulatives!  Mother Goose Time will chose the prizes, but I assure you, whatever they send will be a lot of fun for your children! Manipulatives are a big hit in our house.  Every month we get two new bags of manipulatives, and every month Little Guy asks if he can play with them before the month starts.  The answer is always no, but he tries every month anyways.  During the month we use them for the assigned activities but after we are done with the curriculum, I let him add them to his toy collection. One thing that is in almost every box is a set of counters.  These are often in the shape of animals, which are Little Guy's favorites.  They are used for a variety of activities, and are alwa...
