31 Days of Housewifery - Day 17

Yup, its official, I CANNOT blog about things 31 days in a row.  Or even like 7 days in a row.  We can't all be good at everything right? Anyways, I have completely ignored my schedule after the first two days.  It was to much, and to early.  I have however been keeping the house fairly clean. The other day Michael even said something about it, which is either an insult (at how I usually keep house) or a compliment, but I chose to take it positively. Since my schedule was not really right for me, I went back to an old stand-by:  FlyLady Bingo.  Now I love the idea of FlyLady , but because it is about making habits and I can't seem to make good habits for the life of me, I never get very far through her baby steps .  Plus she wants me to wear my shoes in the house , which is both gross and uncomfortable.  (Hmmm, FlyLady has 31 baby steps, perhaps I will skip one and do them all next month as a challenge.  You know because I love failing...

15 Minutes - This Might Make You Mad

I'm sure you are well aware of this by now, but I am quite lazy.  But I really try not to make excuses for myself though.  Lots of housewives will say things along the lines of "Oh I am just so busy!" or "The kids are so messy that I can't keep the house clean."  My favorite is "I don't stay home to clean, I stay home to be with my kids!" I'm not trying to cause problems, but I don't believe you.  Now admittedly I have evenings off, which most housewives (because they are also mothers) don't.  But I don't clean in the evenings.  I clean during the day so I can relax in the evenings.  My mom had four kids.  Well she still does, but they don't all live with her anymore.  Her house was always pretty clean.  So I know it can be done. "Oh I am just so busy!" - I am willing to bet that for most of you (Michelle Duggar with her 19 kids being a possible exception) busy includes a fair amount of time on some sort of int...

Goals Revisited

In January I set up a list of goals, at which I am failing miserably. -Have a baby: still "unpregnant" -Lose 10 lbs: I have lost about 4, but that is no where near close to ten -Lose 20 lbs: Obviously not -Lose 30 lbs: I am actually not sure I want to lose this much, I think I will switch it to                      23 lbs.  I don't want to be sickly skinny. -Drink 2 glasses of water a day: This is SO easy.  And yet I am not doing it.  Stupid                                                    soda for being delicious. -Keep my house cleaner: I still don't have a house so I am giving myself a break on this  ...

Ma's Chore Schedule

In case you forgot, I really like the Little House books.  In Little House in the Big Woods, Laura shares Ma's chore schedule: Wash on Monday Iron on Tuesday Mend on Wednesday Churn on Thursday Clean on Friday Bake on Saturday Rest on Sunday Now this is a schedule I could get used to.  I don't iron unless I'm sewing, or when Michael worked a short amount of time at a car dealership.  I have very little mending to do, and I usually don't do it, because its quite obvious when I do fix them.  Churning is kind of unnecessary now.  And I don't bake on a regular basis.  So I would basically have no major chores except on Mondays and Fridays.  Obviously this would be a very ineffective chore schedule for me. When I move out, I'm going to get myself back on a schedule, but since it will be a much bigger house than I am used to, and I will be watching a tiny baby, I think I will have to wait to make a schedule until I see what my days look like....

Skinny, Tidy, and Well-Read

That is what I hope to be by the end of this year.  I know New Year's Resolutions are stupid, and not really going to help, but really for me it was just a good timeline.  Plus I didn't start on New Years so it doesn't count.  I am pretty determined to lose about 20 pounds in the next few months, that will put me back at my High School weight.  Well I was determined to lose 20 pounds, but now its only 17!  WooHoo (and I don't mean having sex in the Sims, its just an exclamation)! To do so I am eating Yoghurt in the mornings (along with toast or cereal if I remember), and Slim-Fast (or rather Slim Supreme since I am cheap and buy off-brand everything but ketchup) for lunch.  I am only supposed to have between 1,200 and 1,550 calories a day until I reach my goal weight when it raises to between 1,500 and 1,800, which will be awesome.  By doing the dieting things in the early day, I still have at least 800 calories left for dinner and snack.  At ...
